HI all! I found this site purely by accident (was looking for excersizes to help my calf muscles stop cramping, and Google plopped me ovver here) So I decided to register!

I'm an extremely new (not yet certified) diver wannabe. I've gone through 2 discover scuba pool sessions, 1 discover scuba DIVING session (which included 2 awesome reef dives) and will have my 3rd class/confined water session next week.

I hope to find good tips from the experienced people that come through here, I know that this will be a constant learning process, and therre's no one better than someone with experience!

(and since I'm new I'll probably stay lurking for the most part, but expect a question or a clarification or two)

Have fun!

Aloha and welcome to the "club" oh Bouyant1! (That's a funny screen name by the way.) I just became a member too. If you ever make it to Maui, I can steer you in the right direction for some fun beach dives! Good luck finishing up your class!

Aloha,

Shaka~Doug

Aloha back atcha!

Ironically, I MAY be heading out within the next year, a few or our friends are talking about taking a trip together (to celebrate the fact that we all transitioned into our 40's gracefully) so I may take you up on that!

Always good to have contacts!

Thanks!

Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!
:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue: Look around our various forums - everything from New-To-Scuba to Instructors-Only to Dive Medicine.

Legs cramps are often the result of cheap, rigid fins. You mihgt ask your Instructor about your's...?

BTW - Did you set up your Profile? Some ideas for your Profle might be taken from looking at mine. Click on my Username to the upper left, then click on my Profile, and see what I've done. For your's, click the [CP] in the upper left of the screen, then click [Edit Profile]. If you need any more help, PM me direct.

Howdy DandyDon!

I've learned a lot already!

I'm using Mares Plana Avanti fins They aren't the best for snorkelling, but they worked great on my 2 dives in Key West. I got a lot of thrust and was able to keep up with the instructor without getting tired.

So not sure what to think...

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome Aboard!!!

It's addictive, but who cares?!?!?

Good friends and good info. What could be better???

P.S. - If you have not already done so, please fill out your profile.

HI there and welcome-- a few things about your cramps--- one thing it to make sure your fins arnt toooo tight-- when i sinch down on my fins-- i get cramps-- if they are correct i dont-- so try that... Also cramps can be a sign of being deficient in minerals(mag and pot) take a good multi mineral and eat a few bannanas before diving(the day before and the day of)---and last but not least== drink lots and lots of water------ that should help goodluck
