help needed downloading from sony hc7 to macbook pro

We have a new macbook pro. We can't seem to get it to download video shot on our Sony HC7 minidv camera. Andy advice?

I'm a PC user, but I also have the same camera, and since it is a tape camera, you can't just download video, it has to be captured with the proper software. I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 to capture and edit my video. I know nothing about Mac software, but I imagine you already have some type of video capture software installed. You will have to connect the camcorder with a firewire cable to your computer. Then start the software and let it find the camera, and go from there.

iMovie imports DV tapes just fine automatically you need a firewire cable. It is possible that the camera as a firewire 400 and your macro a firewire 800 there are adaptors

On windows there is a little program that only import DV files and is free
