Hi
I've been looking for a new computer for a while now and have found two models that I like, mostly because of the handy BT functions and the ability to switch gas, the Suunto Vytec and the Uwatec Aladin Tec 2G.
Now I really need your help, this is a hard decision, which one should I choose?
From my point of view the Tec 2G has three advantages: the price, IR-connection and native support for Mac OSX.
So why don't I just buy it? People I've talked to warns me about the algorithm, it's said to be old and liberal (I don't know if it's true). So how liberal is it? Is it more liberal than the Oceanic VT3 (Modified Haldanean / DSAT)?
I know you can compensate with the microbubble levels but then you hide the no decompression time and when you do repetitive dives I've heard that it gets too conservative (is that correct?).
It has also been a lot of talk about the number of tissue compartments... 8 vs. 9 vs. 12 (Uwatec, Suunto, Oceanic). From my understanding the number of compartments is less important than how the algorithm uses them, as long as there isn't too few of them of course (I assume that 8 is enough). Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Best Regards... Daniel
