Hello everyone,

I recently got an Ikelite Auto 35 sustem and noticed in the manual that the substrobe A-35 cannot be used with the macro lens because of flash overexposure. There is no mention of the option of a strobe diffuser for the A-35 but on Ikelite's website it is stated that the newer systems include a diffuser....maybe mine wasn't bought recently enough?

I dive in Monterey Bay where the option for using a camera flash is non-existent. Am I doomed to a non-macro shooting fate in these cool murky waters? Does anyone know if the diffuser would be a simple solution to my problem, or would a diffused strobe still be too bright for subjects at 9"?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

Try this out:http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=113411

Or rubber band cut pieces of light diffusers from Home Depot, you can stack the diffusers to lower the light.

Interesting. So you think that I can fix the problem by simply diffusing the A-35 strobe? Or do you think that the A-35 is perhaps just not meant to be used for macro??

Thanks for the info f3nikon.
