Hi,
With the recent discussion on the incidents/accidents forum about immersion pulmonary edema, I decided to take a look at the research on the topic on pubmed.gov. Somewhat surprisingly, there were 50 or so papers on the topic (I was expecting many fewer). Anyway, there was one paper that just came out on the topic Effects of hyperoxia on ventilation and pulmonary ... [J Appl Physiol. 2010] - PubMed result
The abstract is a little tough for me to digest, though it seems like they're ruling out the idea that heavy exercise predisposes one to IPE - or am I wrong? I'd welcome thoughts from any MD's on the forum.
Thanks,
-Greg
