The suggestion of applying unsafe for breathing products to
regulator components is unnecessarily naive and irresponsible.

Especially when similar practices may be interpreted to be appropriate
for application to alternate air source quick disconnect fittings which
have a greater internal rubber component with which to absorb and
trap the poison.
 
Yeah, I agree- fine using vinegar but I probably would buy a new valve before I resorted to wd-40 or something as industrial like that

I just remove the wire ring to take it apart and clean the components. Usually good rinsing and soaking prevents problems but I have had crud get in there. Just don't let that little wire clip go flying.

Ditto if a ball escapes. They're a dime a dozen at McMaster Carr.
