Dude, sounds like you are ready to explore the whole underwater world. Since you are so close to Southern California, thought I'd let you know that we have 8 islands right off the coast here plus some decent wreck diving and sea lions galore (a lot like overgrown puppy dogs). Also the kelp forest is great all on its own. Probably the best way to get aquainted with things out here is to go to the Underwater Park at Casino Point off of Catalina Island. As far as shops go, check out Hollywoodivers in Los Angeles; the dive club doesn't have any dues, has always got something going on and will be able to point you in the right direction no matter what type of diving you are interested in. Have fun out there!

Hi, sorry just had to scream it out, I've spent all my life on the surface of the water surfing not really realizing what was underneath. What a totally different world. Now I've got DT mags all over the place, desktop's changed, new tattoo in the planning, everything I see that's red has to have a white stripe through it and I did this all originally because of a possible job! Is there such thing as dive stoke? LOL

Hi LVDiveEng,
Welcome to Scuba Board, the friendliest place on the internet for divers. You will meet many informative divers here. Hope you enjoy it here, I know I do! Take care,
Matt :bang:

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Being originally from So Cal, I never thought that I would be underwater instead of at the surface! Totally different world! The farthest I've gotten in Catalina is Avalon Bay in a glass bottom boat which was a cool view but i wanted more(that was before I was introduced to PADI) but one question still remains, Any shark encounters?

I must say your dive stoke is contagious! I'm a newb too and I think we're in the same boat. I think you'll really like this site.

Glad you found us and congrats on the C-card! :)
