Hello: I have a little 17.5 Center Console I want to set up for diving. It is a Sea Chaser by Carolina Skiff. What type of re-entry device (ladder,platform..) would you suggest for this small a boat. I am thinking of one of the removeable ladders that has the mounting bracket on the stern and can be stowed in the boat. The four step looks like it could be pretty good for Scuba. Just wondering what you guys are using. Thanks

Mike

Garlick and other manufactures make just what you need.

I've used this for the last four years. http://www.garelick.com/marine/images/catalog/19803_lg.jpg
Get the 4 step. I've had a few big dudes with double 120's climb it with no problem. Great company with terrific cusomer service. They sent me some new plastic caps for free (found at the ends of each step) after I had the ladder for 3 years.

You may need to beef up the platform that you attach it to if you go that route. Or, if the shape and angle of your transom allow, use the mount to attach it directly to the transom.

Good Luck!

This is the exact ladder (4 step) that I have has well.

I too have the 4 step from Garelik. We climb out wearing doubles no problem. Beefing up the swim platform will be the challenge. You basically need to find a few thick pieces of stainless steel.
