56cm is standard, but in my eyes too short. If I need my backup, then I want to feel free. So I use a 65cm. I use apeks ds4 (and mk19)

24" is the "usual" length. But bigger folks or specific regulator configs sometimes end up with longer and small folk or single tankers sometimes 20-22"

They key is to make sure its not draped over your shoulder and interferes with your right chest D-Ring. I've seen many a folk with too long backup hoses that end up clipping things to hoses.

It should rest inside your shoulder over your collarbone and the bungee of your backup should be just long enough to be under your chin.

I bought 24" and found it too long. It was pushing my backup reg off center from my chest area. 22" works perfectly for me.
YMMV.
