We tried the 5' but the underarm routing is irritating.
We then went to 7' and routed it under the BC pocket. That worked great for me but tended to float over my wifes head.
She now has a 6' hose routed under the pocket and it works well.
Message?
It is better to route under something at the waist. you then have to suck it and see. If your wife is about 5' 7" to 5' 8" my guess is the 6' will work best for her.
Find someone who will change them if they don't work.
Getting this right completely removes regulator drag when you turn your head. A good enough reason for doing it in it's own right.
