Hi Guys,

My 13 year old daughter just got her open water certification and I'm looking for easy beach dives for us to do. She is very small and can't be going up and down rocky walls or long stairs with a bunch of gear. We live in Los Angels area. What do you guys recommend?

Thanks.

Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro and Vet's Park in Redondo Beach are easy, sandy beaches. Cabrillo is the easiest, but vis is usually poor. There is a reef that is only abouit fifty feet from the beach.

There are tons of easy beach dives in Laguna Beach, though many have stairway access. Maybe carry her tank for her on the way down?
Some resources:
Beaches in Laguna Beach California
Dive Conditions in Laguna Beach California
Scuba Shore Diving Region: USA West

Above all I would recommend Casino Point. Easy entry, usually great visibility, & all depths / skill level accessible.

Thank you very much!

+1 for Veteran's Park. There are hand rails for the stairs and a concrete bench at the bottom of the steps if she needs to take a seat and rest up.

One thing to be cautious about though, is the presence of a drop that may sometimes be present in the surf zone.

Crescent Bay in Laguna has stairs, and unless you get there early the walk from where you parked to the stairs might not be real close, but the beach entry is usually fairly easy with low surf (not always though). And the site is fun with lots of fish and other critters to see.

Head to Catalina for the underwater park or if you dont mind a drive Refugio State Beach which is almost always flat

I second Casino Dive Park. Its easy and fun.
