Mainland China?

I'm going on a trip to China in August. It's not a diving trip, but I would
like to see if I can do a dive or two while I'm there.

So far, the only places in China I can find any dive centers at all are
Shanghai, Hong Kong and the island Hainan. Which are all places I won't be
going (apart from one day in Hong Kong, on which I doubt I'll have enough
time to find a dive shop and book a dive for the same day).

Places I will be visiting are Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Kunming, Lijang, and
Yangshuo (yes, I will still enjoy this trip without doing any diving ).

Anybody know if there's any diving in any of these places?

A Chinese friend of mine mentioned there was diving "near" Beijing at Dalian (or is it Dalien?)

Hi drbill, Thanks for the prompt response.
I can see what you mean with "near" though, my rough estimate is that it's at least a 350 mile drive. probably not going to be an option for me...

If you find info on diving around Guangzhou or Shenzhen I would be interested (I live in Guangzhou) but I find it hard to believe there is any water around here worth diving in-viz is not going to better than 0-1 meter and its going to be polluted. I normally hop a flight to the Philippines when I want to get wet.
