Difficult to tell from that photo, but it looks like a Cressi Eyes Evolution. Can you elaborate on your "hurt my face" comment? You may have the mask strap adjusted too tightly.

Are you sure you don't have a sinus blockage? My son gets those, with pain in that area. At what point(s) during the dives did you feel the pain?

I don't believe there is any reason the rental mask would make a difference for a sinus blockage, but my son does not always get pain, so perhaps it was a coincidence with you for that one rental mask?

I think it’s this one:

I believe you are right. I saw the Matrix "freediving" mask after I posted and realized I was mistaken. Cheers!

Thanks guys the mask does look the same as the picture, the pain starts at about 3 meters down,

Sounds somewhat similar to my son's sinus issue, which is never an issue on land, and only started to be an issue for him after he had already made almost 100 dives. Hopefully your issue is just the mask -- though not sure I understand why that would be the case if you are equalizing the mask interior as you descend. If you keep having pain, you should consider seeing an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.
