Not all items salvaged are going to be worth a lot. But small knickknacks such as the bell, compass are cool enough to display where people who are not accustomed to nautical stuff know what it is and understand it. Now I assume those items are long gone but her vintage could mean that there is a lantern room/paint locker. Not valuable but cool to have.

In a race against time, you and other divers might be the only chance for some things to be saved from the sea. Awesome video and wreck. I am envious of you as we have no liners up in the Great Lakes region. And the artifact situation is different both legally and physically. I look forward to more videos from this fascinating wreck (despite it being Soviet).

Very nice video. Cool that you had pre sinking pictures and clips to go with your underwater clips. Are those pretty normal diving conditions for the wreck as far as visibility, current etc ?
Thanks for posting.

hi yes its pretty normal although you do get good days -and worse. ive had anything from 1m to 15m vis and inside is usually good but deeper down is often cloudy - there is very little current was its in a sheltered Bay

What charter boats take you out there? Where do you leave from?

theres a dive op called godive pacific based in Picton - they have a dive lodge nearby and we base ourselves there (equipped with gas mixing, sorb etc. ) and take the boat out - its 10 minutes ride so we sometimes even come back to land for lunch. The alternate is a LOB with Lust for rust but they only operate once a year

you can take a boat from Picton its an 1 ¾ boat ride but the big issue is if the weather changes its a pretty nasty boat ride back and youll likely have to anchor up somewhere overnight.

We drive from Picton ( approx 2 hours drive) and stay at the lodge.
