Could not get my Edge fired up at this time - need to solder a wire or two to get battery connected - will add later.

I did this to compare computers I have been using over the years. Edge starting in 1988; Orca Pilot in mid-90s; Wisdoms since early 2000s; just bought a Petrel. I have used my Pilots as backup to the Wisdom since switching and found they tracked fairly well together. Differences occur only when drifting into deco (Wisdom IMHO behaves badly) and on Nitrox when approaching MOD (again, Wisdom IMHO behaves badly in ways other than NDL/deco issues).

These comparisons are nice if all I planned on doing are single NDL dives. It is what the computers (algorithms) do on repetitive dives and light excursions into deco (I really hesitate to use that term for all the flames it will attract) that will matter to me. Problem is, Sherwood does not make their algorithm available for these comparisons, so it'll have to be based on actual dives. I plan on continuing to use the Wisdom. For the first few dives, it'll be primary and use this time to get used to the Petrel and evaluate settings. Once comfortable, I'll switch to the Petrel as primary and likely put Wisdom in gage mode. Still thinking about that one as I would then have to carry another backup...

This is an older thread, but I also am the position where I would like to backup a Petrel with a Oceanic PP3. Reading this tread I noticed that there are different numbers posted for the petrel between Pacrat and Mruseless. I will prob be getting my petrel middle next week and would like to know if anyone else would be able to let me know what their petrel shows for their NDL in rec mode for the different conservation settings.

I have this one to add to the list from my PP3 Z+ CF ON/off
Depth

Thanks everyone for all the insight into this.
