DMP:
I objected to the black beret issue until it became reality then followed the flow. I will forever keep my maroon beret, I earned it.

You can always tell who has spent time in the Airborne by the way they wear their headgear. Anybody who hasn't always seems to think it is a pizza chef's hat :eyebrow: .
We had a couple of names for people who couldn't form their berets properly...... "mushroom head" is the most PC of those names........ There was also a body-part-related name for the extra "wrinkle" that some people form into their berets by accident.......(not a very complimentary name either)

I always liked the fatigue caps we wore in 'Nam with the 50 mission crush along the top. Always thought they looked rather rakish.

I like the PVT Murphy's Law comic where Muprhy says that instead of a beret, we need a more distinctive American headgear so we should switch to black cowboy hats!

Hey, I still have my black Stetson cavalry hat with my wings and bar from the good old days of flying with the 1st Cav!

I still wear it on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Draws a few comments !!!

(God, I love the smell of napalm in the morning . . .)
(Smell that smell, son? You know what that smell is? That's the smell of victory!)

Maybe black "Indiana Jones" style hats!

Stetson's are cool... Maybe before I retire, I will look at going to an Air Cav unit and earn the coveted spurs to add to my collection of awards and decorations.
