Diving the ocean in most ways is the same and in some ways different.

*Are these guided or otherwise led dives? Tides and currents must be understood. Not rocket science and done right not a hazzard but certainly someting new to a lake diver.

*As mentioned on the shore entry. Hood mask & gloves on at the shoreline. Walk in with your fins in hand, don them in waist-chest high water. Put air in your BC and it will help steady you. As mentioned take your regulator in your mouth while donning your fins. If you fall over, so what? Finish with the fins and then get up to wait for the others. Or float around breathing through your snorkel, get your face happy in the new enviornment before heading down, that will save some air. You can also try laying back into your inflated BC, making the figure 4 with your legs and getting fins on that way.

*Pay VERY close attention to any gear on your way in and out. Things not held can get away very quick sometimes.

*Plan to see a lot more of what nature has to offer. In general fresh water is about finding stuff and the ocean is about seeing stuff. A light to see under stones, overhangs and into crevices would ne handy.

*Bring extra weight. Depending on your build and gear it could be 4-8 pounds. The denser water will provide more buoyancy.

*If you are scuceptible to motion sickness take measures well before getting on the boat. There are plenty of threads to search on the topic.

*If you have been casual about rinsing your gear plan on more intensive rinsing, there really is salt in the water and you can see it on poorly rinsed gear.

Have a great time!
Pete
