My D90 body is on the way...step one is done :) Ikelite gives you a lot of options concerning all sorts of configurations, and that's very good + the price is attractive.

I've never used a reflex rig...I'm just a little worried with the SIZE of it. And Ikelite housings are quite big.

Depending on when you will need your housing, I would hold off and let some of the new housings come out for the D90. I know the Patima one will be CNC machined from aluminum and be comparable to the Ikelite price. If Sea & Sea comes out with a RDX version then the price will be comparable to Ikelite too and both of these options will be smaller than the Ikelite.

Of course if you need it now, then your choices are limited..

Also, what lens works best for shots of other divers, full body shots with good vis? Thanks.
C-

Tokina 10-17. Focuses from the port to infinity with very little distortion in the center of the frame. You should be able to get your diver in at only a few feet with a nice clear background.

You're absolutely right. In fact, that's what I'm planning to do. I have base/arms/ys100 strobes which I think I'll be able to use with a RDX-D90...this is my best option/best. I don't mind to wait for a while. I'll use the time to familiarize with the camera.

Just picked up the Nikon D90 w/ 18-105mm VR lense with plans to get a housing in the coming year. Any info you find is a huge help. Thanks to all.

Hi to all,

This is my first post on this forum.
I recently acquired a D90 and I am looking at buying a housing for going UW.

I am not sure about Ikelite, as I find it big.

What do you think about the following options:

- Sealux for D90
- Hugyfot for D90
- BS Kinetics for 90

My initial plan is to use a Tokina 10-17.
By the way, this lens manufacturer is not distributed anymore in France. Any idea, where i could get one for my D90?

Thank you

The Tokina 10-17s are all over the internet. There are multiple E-Bay sources out of Hong Kong, plus most of the UW camera shops are now selling them. Here in the US, reputable internet options are B&H or Adorama, Backscatter carries them if you want a UW specialist. I'm not sure about Reef Photo/Video. I think you can get it from Divervision out of China as well and Amazon.com/UK.

I bought my 10-17mm tokina from online store in HK. I am very pleased with the results of the 10-17mm. I normally leave it on 10mm.

Have a look at my flickr link below as I have taken a few wide angle shots recently and also a mate of mine borrow my setup for the dives and got some excellent Manta ray action

Regards Mark

Great Pics! were all of your Flickr shots taken with your 10-17? Was the mantis shrimp?

And for what its worth: I e-mailed Sea and Sea and they have no plans of releasing D90 housing anytime soon.
