This time of the season a lot of us are interested in water temperatures.

If you have a minute, please post date, divesite, town, state, diveboat, distance offshore, and water temperature. If there were thermoclines, please include this temperature information also.

Please post the source of the information. (bouy, boat captain, dive store, dive computer, average, estimate, etc)

Especially interested in the southern Florida gulf stream temps.

The type of suit worn and how it worked for you would be interesting also.

Thank you

The Oriskany in the Gulf was 61 degrees on the surface and 64 degrees on the wreck it self and we used the H2O below boat. with Capt Doug. Booked through MBT Divers in Pensacola Florida. I did te dive in my drysuit but the rest of the group did so in 3mm wetsuits with hoods an no one complained about the cold.

50 miles off of Georgetown SC on the 20th the temp was 67 degrees. At 30 miles it was 58. At 24 it was 54.

Take a look at this site; this page is for Florida:
Milford, Ma Weather-Florida Buoy Data
That will get you to all the NOAA buoy data, realtime and historical, and show you where they are.

If you scroll over the "Nautical" tab at the top, there's a dropdown menu; scroll over "Atlantic Buoys", and get another menu that includes the regions. This site is generally a great starting point for all sorts of meteorological info, worth bookmarking.

Water was 69 degrees on the computer at the 90ft "Area 51" and 70ft "Tunnels" reefs off of Jupiter, FL on 3-17. We were out with Jupiter Dive Center. On 3-18 we tried to dive the Vandenburg in Key West with Lost Reef Adventures but the current was once again too bad (same thing happened to us over the summer). Instead we did a surprisingly nice reef called "Western Dry Rocks" about 8 miles out. Water was a balmy 74 on the computer.

Water temps around Beaufort, SC are 60 in the rivers and surface temps are hovering around 64 nearshore. However, as of 2 weeks ago bottom temps at 95' were a warm 51 degrees.
