I just joined this site and read this post. I'm a member of the Portsmouth Rhode Island Fire Dept Dive Team that recovered F.F.Leduc. I believe he did suffer cardiac arrest while in the water. The Tiverton Fire Dept. just named one of their stations in his honor. Also he was promoted posthumously to the rank of Lieutenant. The missing boater was found several days later by
Rhode Island state police divers. This was the first line of duty death for the Tiverton Fire Dept.
