Hello Scubaboard,

I have an SPG - by Scubapro. Its an all metal, heavy kind, with a thick glass cover. It's pretty old and bumbed up but it still keeps fairly accurate readings (I've compared this with my newer SPG's).

SPG Similar to this:

The glass isn't clean anymore and shows that at some point in its use - moisture, maybe salt water - may have seeped in. The inner surface of the glass shows some whitish deposits that I'd like to get rid off.

The body is all metal. It seems a metal ring holds the glass in place and keeps the water out.

Has anyone opened this kind of SPG? Can the insides of the glass be cleaned? Can the ring/holder come off?

Thanks

Yes, you can unscrew the metal ring and remove the thick plastic lens.
There's a thread on how to polish it.

.....sorry, didn't look at your pic before my first post.
It's not a plastic lens.
If you can see some threads below the ring then yes it will unscrew (with a little encouragement). If not you may be out of luck and the cover is pressed on....almost impossible to remove without destroying the gauge.
