Why purchase a wheel?
well, it's cheaper than a back-up computer.

I just joined and wanted to share a few thoughts. Since you have now been diving a few years you may have noticed its a dying art. That is, like colored glass its not around as much unless you need it. As an instructor, divemaster or prepared diver knows things happen. EVEN to us. You should be well versed in PLANNING by now. for this is what they are first used for. PLANNING. You cant use your computer for that. And using standard tables will limit what you can plan effectively. The wheel allows for much more precise dive planning, especially where you drift a wall that has several levels to explore. Secondly, I have had many divers come to the surface and then remember they didnt turn on the computer or the computer died. Now what? If you have dive tables you once again limit things. The wheel will help you gain back some of that time. Otherwise you are at the mercy of the dive boat or worse yet some will refuse to let you back in the water. So plan well first. Check your information upon return and log it in your log book. Then on the day something goes wrong you will be the prepared diver you were taught to be.
