yeah...if it scratches then it IS plastic...glass breaks..never get scratched
 
In the future think about having clips so your gear won't be drug around the bottom. I use retractors.

At my LDS, they sell clear stickers basically the same size as a gauge. When scratched just peel it and apply a new one .... 10 for 5,95$

This is what I use to prevent scratches, except I bought some clear laminating sheet from a bookstore and cut it myself to the shapes I need. (It was cheap).
 
second on the toothpaste, it even works for u/w camera domes
 
sad thing is I use retractors on everything but if you fall on your Butt they don't help

hehe i hate it when im jogging along at 70ft and trip...and fall on my butt!!
