A scuba diver has survived eight hours in the Indian Ocean after becoming separated from his boat, leaving rescuers marvelling at his 16km epic swim to shore.

A scuba diver has survived eight hours in the Indian Ocean after becoming separated from his boat, leaving rescuers marvelling at his 16km epic swim to shore.

Bad idea to not carry a torch on every dive - he's lucky he made it, but irresponsible to not carry appropriate signaling gear for an emergency. It also seems like they left the boat unattended which is also a really bad idea!

Poor boat diving skills all round. That area of water is know for large great whites as well.

As was said before re sharks, he's very lucky given the number of large Great Whites found in those waters.
