I worked on the boat during the week, replacing a grommet and installing the rigging hose to our starboard motor. We took a sea trial this morning to Hawthorne Reef followed by a second dive under the rough seas at Golf Ball Reef. The repairs actually held, so tomorrow I will begin work on the port motor. It never ends.
Visibility was poor at both sites. At Hawthorne Reef, I found a moray eel in a crack. I had my macro lens so I could only catch its face as it swam out of its den and past me.
Hawthorne Reef
Crassedoma giganteum, Rock scallop
Henricia leviuscula, blood star
Sponges and tunicates
Nudibranch egg ribbon, probably Peltodoris nobilis
Sebastes miniatus, Vermilion Rockfish
Gymnothorax mordax, California moray
Felimare porterae
Cadlina flavomaculata
Limacia mcdonaldi
Orienthella trilineata
Peltodoris mullineri
Triopha catalinae
Acanthodoris lutea
Cadlina luteomarginata
