Just kinda want to let some people know about a great book that is coming out in a couple of mounts called shadow divers. it fallow the story of two divers as they uncover the mystery of an unknown u boat off the coast of NJ (the u 869). when it comes out pick it up and take a read its a great book. ( :crafty: plus my uncle is one of the divers in the book)

How similar is this to "The last Dive" which is also eventually about U869 ?

Well, this book I feel goes in to much great detail then "the last dive," the author of the book spent a great deal of time not only researching the dive but all so the divers and there history most definitely a must read.

just to clarify, U-869 makes a brief appearance in The Last Dive, but the sub
that the Rouses died on is the U-853.

Richard Kohler must be your uncle, Frank.

Yes it is, it was sunk on May 6, 1945. The boat is a total length of 252 feet. The total weight of the u boat is 1,120 gross tons and it is a class IX-C. It sits 130 feet under water and it sits upright, slight list (left). Divers should be advanced divers. lol just a little info on it :D
