Well I'm glad I had this thing on the weekend, because I had to use it when my 1st stage (SP mk 25) free flowed on an ice dive. I'm going to have to look in to a different first stage for my future ice dives.

Not a bad idea. I've heard the MK25's aren't too solid in really cold weather. Have a look at the MK17 if you want to stick with Scubapro. Did you manage to get your primary shut down or was it freeflowing all the way back to the hole?

Good decision on getting the larger bottle.

No kidding. You'll never see anybody come up from a dive and say:

"I wish I didn't have so much extra air with me when I got tangled up in that line!"

Especially under the ice.

No I didn't get the primary shut down. at first I thought it was the second stage that was free flowing, untill my octo started going as well. When I came up out of the hole I had someone shut my air off and they said "hey man, you're first stage is a block of ice." I may actually switch my guages and bc hose over to my mk2 pony reg for the rest of the winter season. I hear that's a pretty reliable cold water reg. When my diving day was done I lent my pony to other divers so it was in and out of the water all day and it never had a problem.
