Anyway, the spiral CT scan is supposed to detect bullae as small as 2mm (0.07 inches).

Yes, newer spiral/helical CT scanners can resolve lesions down to ~2mm. However, bear in mind that a pulmonary bulla can be as small as 2mm (0.08 inches), while its very close anatomical cousin (so close in fact that some experts don't consider it a terminological distinction worth making), the pulmonary bleb, can be even more minute, as in ~1mm (0.04 inches) or less. And, both have extraordinarily thin & delicate walls (read, "easily ruptured").

So, I'm not sure you're completely out of the woods just yet.
