Any ideas on how best to streamline everything? I wonder if in the future there wont be a housing around everything with nothing to dangle. That the hoses will all be like vacuum cleaner cords--self retracting????

One major aspect of drag cross-sectional area of the plane that is perpendicular to your direction of travel and/or the current. Reducing your cross-sectional area will reduce drag.

www.gue.com has some suggestions on one method to streamline effectively.

I see no real benefit to retracting hoses. My hoses are as long as they need to be. They are reasonably close to my body and don't add appreciably to my cross-section.
