I am going to second getting a second opinion. You might ask for some ideas in the dive medicine forum. I am not going say go against your doctor's advice, but it would not be unreasonable to seek out more information from sources within the dive-medical community.

I will give the usual advice generally given on the forum for most medical issues - contact DAN who will probably be able to get a specialist with diving knowledge to look at your case and advise correctly.

Without the specialist knowledge of diving, it is quite possible your specialist is erring on the side of caution.

Computer to maximize your dive time - tables assume a "rectangular" dive profile, but with a computer, you will get "credit" for portions of your dive that are above the planned bottom depth. As a back-up, second computer, or log your dive time, depth, surface interval and work the tables as a back-up

I love their compasses and SPGs.

I've owned 6+ SK7's Great compass, until the module cracks, you get a bubble in the fluid and you need to replace it.

I've switched to the ScubaPro FS-2. A little more money, but I've never had a failure.

I've also had *every* Suunto dive computer I've owned start to literally "go diving" by itself. I suspect the pressure transducer fails.

I have no experience with their SPG's

YMMV,

Tobin

I'd be very careful about buying and used Suunto product. Every Suunto computer I've ever had has eventually gone diving all by themselves.

Y'know, when Tobin first used the phrase "go diving by itself", I thought he meant he'd buried them at sea.
