Geez, stop referring to Sea Hunt as an "old" show. Heck, I watched it when it first came out... what does that make me. Don't say.

As for BCs, didn't dive with one from 1961 til 1989. That year I was diving with one of Jean Michel Cousteau's teams in the northern Channel Islands and they required one. I tried submerging several times, but it kept auto-inflating. My buddy said that couldn't be happening, but when she looked underwater she saw it was. She asked what we should do. I said I'd disconnect it and dive without the BC. Her reply was "You can do that?" Mine: "Been doing it for nearly 30 years.

Of course we weighted ourselves much more precisely back then. Today I overweight myself to stay steady while filming, and wouldn't dive without a BC.
