Has there been any talk about including some sort of TTS display specific for overhead environments?

I.E your computer gives you your TTS assuming that you will return along the same dive profile (allowing for correct ascent rates and decompression stops). You would have to let the computer know when you've turned the dive.

How would the computer know about how fast you were swimming, currents, etc.?
It would not but as noted, the assumption would be to follow a reverse profile. For example, a simple "L" profile.

Descent 0 - 100' for 5 minutes
Level 100' for 25 minutes

So the TTS would assume 25 minutes return @100' at which point the ascent would be made with appropriate deco stops.

And as noted, the TTS would need to be told when the return starts (and more - see below).

I'm curious for reasoning on this
And what happens if your return takes 27 minutes?
Isn't this what dive planning is for? Obviously, doesn't work for exploratory dives, but those are small percentage overall.
It would give a more accurate estimate than the current TTS estimate which assumes direct to the surface at any point. TTS is a guesstimate during the dive thus is not dive planning.

You would have to let the computer know when you've turned the dive.
One would probably want several settings. That is the normal TTS, "overhead outbound," "overhead return," then back to normal TTS.

All-in-all, an interesting idea as it would be more accurate than the normal TTS but quite niche.
