Hey, I cant specifically comment on the Gemini, however I dive their Stratos model and I have had no complaints thus far. Seems like a great BC and I picked it up brand new directly from them for a fraction of the price of the competition.

I dive Orion, my fiance and son both dive stratos and we are all happy with them. Do a search fo Triple-L and you will find a long thread on Triple-L products in general that has a lot of notes.

Never dove with any, I don't see any reason you would need a Backplate.
