That was freak'n hilarious and informative at the same time. Only thing missing was a Chuck Norris connection to the Mantis Shrimp!
 
Some awesome footage. These creatures are elusive and interesting.

I was very puzzled about how the footage was obtained until I realized that the majority was aquarium based.

We commonly encounter them in 2 distinct habitats in the Caribbean.
- in the rubble, you get half a second glimpse as they dash into a hole - check around, because like jawfish they may be starring at you from another nearby hole.
- on a flat sandy surface they remain perched motionless on the top of their perfectly round hole. We have approached to within 3 feet and they remain in place, swiveling their eyes about - I assume they are in hunt mode and will grab anything that comes close.

Always the highlight of a dive trip when we find one.
