Effective 24 April 2015 “Witness to War: Truk Lagoon's Master Diver Kimiuo Aisek” (Kickstarter 2013) is available on-line with a free “sample” download of 20% of the book at
https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/538217.

Kimiuo Aisek was a seventeen-year old witness to “Operation Hailstone,” the U.S. attack on Truk, “the Gibraltar of the Pacific.” Dianne M. Strong's biography recognizes a humble islander who put Truk Lagoon on the world map for scuba divers, by founding Blue Lagoon Dive Shop in 1973. Through Aisek's eyes readers learn about the Japanese mandate, WW2 in the Pacific, and Aisek's unique legacy.

The Smashwords edition includes larger photographs and some expanded material, including the dedication of the Kimiuo Aisek Memorial Museum on 13 September 2014 in Chuuk. The download costs $9.99. Please check out this electronic edition and spread the word! Kinisou Chapur!

Kimiuo Aisek (4:25 & 6:00 mark) in this mid-1980's News Documentary on the Truk Lagoon Wrecks:

The Late Kimiuo Aisek is a Hero to Chuuk State Federated States of Micronesia, just as and like the great memory of the Late Duke Kahanamoku is to the People of Oahu Hawaii USA.

Thanks, Kevrumbo, for this post. The 1984 San Francisco KGO-TV news series by Lee McEachern was one of Kimiuo Aisek's favorite videos. In his biography I devote two pages to "A video collection for a movie lover," and describe from 1971 (Cousteau's) to Kimiuo's favorite, Wolfgang Bayer's "Resurrection at Truk Lagoon," 1984, WNET. I have a pristine copy of McEachern's DVD, and used it while researching my book. He shared information that can not be found anywhere else.
