I'll never take anything the LEAST bit questionable in the carry-on. They change the rules anyway. Why risk taking a KNIFE? In 2001--8 days after 9/11, they (Canada, but same idea) confiscated the matches I use for lighting my pipe and GAVE ME a cigarette lighter from a bunch they had collected previously when THEY were prohibited! Put everything iffy in the checked bag(s).

TSA still doesn't realize what serious damage a regular ball point pen can do in the right hands.
And they still want to ban nail clippers!?

They took my friend's nail clippers and cigar cutter! I can imagine trying to hijack a plane with nail clippers and a cigar cutter... "Take me to where I want to go or I'm going to stick your finger in my cigar cutter after I cut off all your nails!"

Security theatre.

None of it makes you safer.
