Submarine outing claims diver - Divernet
A diver has lost his life after getting into difficulty while diving on the wreck of the German WWI submarine U12 off Eyemouth, in Berwickshire.

Ian Woolston, 52, from Halifax in West Yorkshire, was one of seven divers exploring the wreck, which lies in 50m of water, from an Eyemouth-based charter boat.

He is reported to have been at a depth of about 46m when he made a rapid ascent after signalling to his buddy that he was in trouble and wished to head for the surface.

Arriving there unconscious, Woolston was recovered aboard the dive boat. An emergency call was put out while attempts were made to resuscitate the casualty.

Woolston was airlifted by the SAR helicopter from RAF Boulmer to the recompression chamber at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where it was confirmed that he had died.

Lothian and Borders Police has launched an investigation into the incident.
