Next time, go invert and kick down to slow your ascend rate.

With your dive profile, I think that you're OK on the DCS and if you didn't hold your breath, I don't think that you have to worry about embolism.

I agree, although there is no need to go completely inverted, getting your feet up and swimming around in circles at a downward angle should be enough to overcome slight positive buoyancy. However, it is important not to work too hard, as you should be relaxing while off gasing.

wouldn't tanks of the same volume have the same swing regardless of steel vs aluminum?

I mean, what else is "swinging" besides the weight gas you are breathing?
