Try craigslist.com and click on the Boston link. Then go to sporting and punch in the word 'scuba' or 'diving' for a search and see what turns up. Just do your homework so you don't get swindled. For cheap good quality tanks in hydro, the best bets are probably AL80s and steel 72s. I grabbed a used PST E7-100 and a BCD off craigslist.com lastyear which I've been using since then with no problems. Good luck.

Don't forget after you check Boston to try Providence it will bring up a whole new set on sellers. Please do the math before buying at the current price of like oh say $75 a gallon for gas it may be cheaper to buy new and local.
 
I have 1 al 80, bought just a fiew months ago. went to steel. $90.00 (paid 130)
 
also have a set of 44 steels, current hydro. used them for vintage diving, back pack and bands, manifold, $100.00
