Just FYI.

Just back from a USN ONR/NAVSEA/BUMED Review/Wkshp in Baltimore.
NEDU will begin man trials on deep stops, and this is monumental
for the USN.

Pairwise correlation of air dives to 170 ft for 25 - 35 minutes will
commence in January, with one dive classical (Haldane-like) and the other
deep stop (RGBM-like) staging. Some 1500 dives are needed (good statistics)
with estimated risk in the 3% - 5% range. Dives will be wet and
water temperatures around 70 F. Some 50 Navy divers will participate
Program will last some 12- 15 months at NEDU.

excellent news

Hopefully we will get to see some of the data gathered during this study.

Great to see our tax dollars being spent on something that may be of direct benefit to some of us for a change.

Do you know how they plan on measuring the results? Doppler bubble testing, etc?

Hello Readers:

Deep Trials

We are seeing the gradual change that accompanies the passage of time. Old ideas such as Haldane limited supersaturation models are being replaced with those acknowledging preformed micronuclei.

It is said that ideas do not die. Rather those who believe in them do. As people retire in the naval programs, researchers familiar with the “nuclei models” will have a chance at the program.

We are seeing a shift in the wind. Curiously, much of it came from the private sector rather than the government sector.
