Unified Team Diving Releases a New Series of Books

Unified Team Diving, a global training and certification agency, released five new books this year. The titles are:
  • Essentials of Recreational Diving
  • Essentials of Technical Diving
  • Essentials of Scientific Diving
  • Technical Diving
  • Student Diver and Procedures Manual

Essentials of Rec and Essentials of Tech cover all the personal skills for recreational and technical divers. These include propulsion techniques, buoyancy and trim, air-sharing procedures, team positioning, gas planning, and ascent strategies. A UTD Essentials skills DVD is included with each book.

Essentials of Scientific Diving is one of UTD’s latest offerings. Essentials of Scientific Diving is a UTD class covering many aspects of research, academic, and aquarium diving. This class, when taught by UTD instructors who are scientific and research divers, can meet the 100-hour requirement for AAUS Scientific Diver recognition.

This book includes much of the material from Essentials of Recreational Diving and the Essentials of Rec skills DVD, and includes these chapters on scientific diving:

  • Disciplines of Scientific Diving
  • Tools of Scientific Diving
  • Working Underwater
  • Rescue Techniques and Oxygen Maladies
  • Situational Awareness

UTD Technical Diving is a complete book on all aspects of diving to technical depths. This book covers:

  • Personal and Team Skills
  • Deco and Stage Bottle Handling
  • Valve Failures and Valve Drills
  • Team Positioning
  • Gas Management
  • Gas Selection
  • Decompression Theory
  • Decompression Strategy
  • Ratio Deco

Although the book is a companion to the UTD technical classes, it can be used as a reference for current or new tech divers, or for any diver taking a technical diving class with any agency.

The UTD Technical Diving book is 268 pages, full color, is easy to read, and is filled with reference tables and photographs. The book includes UTD’s famed Tech/Trimix skills DVD.

The fifth offering is the UTD Student and Diver Procedures Manual. This 270-page manual defines, in detail, the skills taught in all UTD classes, including proper weighting and trim, valve drills, s-drills, surface marker buoy deployment, and more.

It also includes descriptions of emergency procedures – valve failures, loss of mask, unconscious or toxing diver recovery, guideline protocols, and lost deco bottle. There is a chapter on the history and development of Ratio Deco, and a complete technical diving glossary.

This book compliments the other UTD printed books and online class materials, going into great depth and description of all the skills, drills, and procedures all divers can use.

The four class books are available for $99.00 USD; the Student Diver and Procedures Manual is $74.95. All the books are available online at www.unifiedteamdiving.com or from any local UTD dealer or instructor.
