I noticed that all BlueNorway was doing was SPAM'ing every Vandenberg thread with almost the same exact post every day, with links to his website of course.

Everything has gone amazingly quiet.....given the history of this Project that usually indicates another looming disaster.:shakehead::popcorn:

The sad truth is that a excellent project for the Keys and Key West in particular is dying a slow death and the very large efforts of this group are being wasted mostly due to political indifference at the State and County level.:dork2:

At a time when the Key's needs a boost for summer tourism this project should have proceeded.:no

those in charge of the vandenberg are attempting to petition the coast guard for an extension on the sink-date ultimatum an additional 2 weeks into june (i.e., hurricane season).

:confused:I thought that there was a earlier statement that they were going to take a couple of months in Key West to prepare the ship and load the explosives?

Is the ship already in Key West just waiting for the go ahead? :eyebrow:

Can they move this into late June or early July? :lotsalove:

Realistically the storms that would be a concern do not show up until July.

If they miss this spring why not sink it after hurricane season?

What happened to the law suit from the shipyard?

the ship is still in the shipyard somewhere on the east coast.

The permit for sinking has to be done before hurricane season. why? because they don't want the ship being pulled down or docked in Key West during hurricane season and it being sunk in harbor, or broken loose and causing more damage banging around.

They ran into this with the Oriskany. The EPA permit wasn't completed in time and P'cola didn't have a "hurricane mooring" in the harbor to hold the ship in the event of a bad storm. So they spent $1.6million towing it to Texas for the hurricane season, only to tow it back before they sunk it.
