Glad y'all got the chance to be a part of the race. I was wondering if you were involved when I saw it in the paper. Happy to hear you're enjoying the boat as much as you can while JB is home.
 
I saw the end of the race from underwater. I just wish the outrigger canoes and the support boats would honor the dive flag. We were diving Turtle Canyon. You just have to remember to stay down at all costs.

I did a bunch of escort crossings for canoe and kayak racing. Those were some hellaciously long days leaving Moanalua Bay at 3:00am and crossing in pitch darkness and wicked head seas. Coincidentally, yesterday I retired my last Lokahi paddling club t-shirt.
After the Molokai-Maui ferry ran aground at Kaunakakai Harbor, I stopped doing night transits into the harbor there. No one slept anyway.
