We did not grab the Whale Shark!!!! we know better!!!!!! - it was a local guy from the "National Park Police"!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Shark was out of national park site actually!< park Police came, filmed with its own crew (the guy who grabbed the fin), and left.... Thats the kind of authority down here we have!!!! (Sucks).... The Shark i believe was lost as it was in waters 30 feet deep and like 40-50 feet away from the Purto Morelos dock.
As said: WE DID NOT GRAB THE SHARK!, but we did film the guy doing it!, I hope we can pass and show this to the guys in the park (who are them) and re-tell them not to do it as they lose their slime which protects them.
This was a fluke and people in there are not used to see this animals as it is a water channel which only gets narrower, tho local fishermen escorted the shark to deeper waters they said. No news in the papers about this...
ON OTHER NEWS: I would also like to tell people that the "cut" fin from the shark is a product of a propeller from a boat; we had several this year as soooo many tourists went to see them in all kinds of boats and the people in Isla Mujeres and Puerto Juarez dont seem to have the navigational training to do this so they get there and run over them!!!!. I would like to find a solution for this before its too late as water is getting contaminated by so many motors and propellers cutting their fins. I think jet propelled (jetski like) motors should be used but theres non here.... any ideas I can bring to the table to the gov here?????.
Doberman.
