ERIC.K:
I don't even see how some of you even move, let alone get on or off the boat, I only hope and pray some of you are not the ones I get stuck on the boats with....gear rolling all over the place, scrambling through gear bags looking for dye markers, asking your dive buddy if they remembered to get the pony bottles? But then maybe you are diving conditions i'm not interested in?

No I dont think most of us are diving conditions that you oar not interested.Every thing that every member posted is there for a reason.Either that person is carrying something because A they needed it at somepoint,B had someone they know needed it at somepoint or C saw a list similar to whats posted and thought hey thats a good idea,My personal opinion is that I would rather carry something and not need it then need something and find out the hard way.If I saw someone on a boat that was carrying something I wasnt,I would probably as why they carried it and if it makes sense, would probably start carrying one also.
My general rig is
Sherwood avid bc,
Sherwood brut reg
zeagle safe second
Genesis React Pro comp, with sog and compass in console.
Tusa mask
Tekna fins(I know I am dating myself now.)
Mares 3mm wetsuit
Mares boots
Scubapro gloves (if I am wreck or lobster diving)
a wrist mount dive slate
2 knives
in my bc pockets spare thin gloves
3 cell waterproof flashlight(all dives whether I think I need it daylight or not)
a dive table on a whistle chord(yes the whistle is attached)
a rescue card
dc 600 camera attached to my bc
safety sausage with whistle
.
I will be adding in the very near future,
a mirror,
reel line of some sort,
lift bag.
With me on the boat or at least in my truck I carry a spare mask, full spare reg set, without the comp (hence the dive table)spare orings, spare reg plugs, assorted batteries, assorted straps and clips, mini beaners etc, dramamine,or other anti sea sickness med,wax marker,2 multi tools, wrenches that fit my hoses, and sterile saline for my contacts along with my glasses and a spare set of contacts.
Most of us who dive with equipment more than once have a system down and unless the boat is pitching, you will probably never know we are there.

saw a mention of sea sickness in there somewhere. i know its not the right thread but.. i get sea sickness really bad. tried most of the available "remedies". i even bought some bonine over the web (at great expense!) they all work to varying degrees but all leave me totally tired for the drive home. there is one however that works & is cheaper than the rest , GINGER ROOT CAPSULES. i dont know how or why. it was suggested to me & it works. no sickness at all & no drowsiness at all. i take two capsules 1 hour before diving. i hope this is of help. phil.

Just reading the long lists of what some of you guys carry makes me feel too heavy to move! My list is thus:

Mask: Deep Blue Gear Oval Classic
Fins: US Divers Otarie
Snorkel: US Divers classic "J"
Weight belt: Scubapro nylon web
Weight: 2# if diving without wetsuit, 5# with wetsuit
Wetsuit: Henderson 1.5mm shorty (if I wear it)
Regulator: US Divers Aquarius
Tank: Sherwood steel 72 (with J valve) on Healthways backpack
SPG: Sherwood
Depth gauge: Healthways capillary depth gauge
Watch: Casio digital
Knife: US Divers (on weight belt)

And that's it. No BC, no octopus (I learned to dive using a US Divers DA Aquamaster when divers were taught to buddy breathe), no dive computer (I have my brain), none of the new bells and whistles the manufacturers are so desperate to sell me.

I prefer to dive light, free and mobile. But, that's just me.
