Greetings,
I've been asking about a question that I can not seem to get a good answer on.
In light of sharks ability to sense the bioelectromagnetic field of prey up to several centimeters away, what perception does a strobe firing and/or recharging have upon a shark and what kind of stimulation might it cause?
I have run across multiple stories where a shark is posturing and the strobes flash triggers an attack. But is there a connection with the "sensing" or is it more an issue of space invasion?
- In the mentioned cases the sharks are "posturing" which is said to be basic SharkSpeak saying "GO AWAY [or else] !!!".
- Photographers as a rule are traveling TO what they have in the viewfinder as opposed to Away from. A clear violation of the sharks "suggestion".
So does a strobe stimulate an attack in and of itself? Or is it the photographer "in your face" that's doing it?
