I'm not sure what an atomic watch is, just know that it's more accurate (or stays more accurate). But does it work only in a limited area? I live in Halifax, but dive often in the Caribbean (barbados) and Asia (Iran).

THat didn't really help. Again, I need to know if I order a casio atomic solar watch from amazon, will it work here in Halifax, NS, and will it work in the caribbean?

Atomic watches sync the watch time with a transmitter in Ft. Collins, CO (North America). Europe and Japan have their own transmitters, I believe. All the sync does is set the time to the transmitter's time. It does this 3 times a night, at 2am, 3am and 5am (to make sure it gets it). This can also be done manually. All this does is sync the time. The time can be set manually as well and the watch will keep good time if it is outside the transmitter range. Is it's within range of the transmitter, you'll never have to adjust your watch again, even for daylight savings time.
