Where and how you dive does matter ...

AL80's seem to be the tanks of choice if you're diving Open Ocean in a wetsuit. In that case you must be able to swim up in a worst case scenario (BC/Wings fail at beginning of dive at 100+ feet). Even properly weighted you're in for a long swim and hopefully have ditch-able weight to drop!

However, if you're diving dry, even in the ocean you now have a "back-up BC" in your dry suit. In that case, I think the LP 95's or LP 104 win. Better buoyancy characteristics, can always be filled, lets you drop weight etc.

However, I'm waiting for the new PST E-119 and E-130s to come out later this month. Lighter than the 95/104's, still negatively buoyant empty and can be filled LP to 95/104 or HP to 199/130 (and that's a lot of gas!).
