When I first got into night diving and since I enjoy DIY I built myself a super powerful canister light. The novelty wore off after a couple of dives. It just turned night dives into day dives and was useless for signalling. Trying to use it to illuminate a gauge is hopeless. It's been in my junk box for quite a few years now.

I now have a compact LED light that fits into my BC pocket and is always with me and even so I only use the high setting for looking into crevices and holes during daytime. At night or for wreck penetrations I only use it on low or sometimes medium.

More is not better.
