...when you look at your living room, and realize that the diving gear (which previously only occupied two plastic shelving units) has already taken over a quarter of the living room, and is threatening to enroach upon the other 3/4's.

...when you're looking at vehicle purchases, and the main requirements (besides gas efficiency - for driving to cave country, of course!) is whether there's a lip on the floor of the hatchback (easier to gear up if there's not a lip)

...when you realize that nearly all your life is consumed by diving (either planning a dive, packing gear, driving to/from dive site, diving, cleaning gear, studying for classes) and that you really don't mind said obsession (fine line between hobby and mental illness )

...when you've discussed diving so much with non-diving fiancee, that he probably knows more about the theory of decompression than the average OW diver

...when you're up at 4:30 in the morning, coming up with "you know you're a scuba diver when..." punchlines

Everytime I see a dive bumper sticker I want to ask the driver if they are okay in hand signals like it's our secret society handshake!
